SUMMARY:Strategic Planning – Issue Based and Directed
DESCRIPTION:Giving DuPage has partnered with the NIU Civic Leadership Academy to offer classes covering relevant nonprofit governance topics\, taught by world-class educators from NIU! \nThis workshop will be hosted in two parts with the morning session focused on the impact of strategic planning on local government\, nonprofits\, and corporate industry\, and local businesses.  Strategic planning is participatory and necessary for organizations as a means of determining their path ahead. The strategic and focused use of a plan can result in success in executing operational plans to drive economic and community development. Organizations engaged in planning are considered to be forward thinking\, identifying future challenges while creatively solving problems when looking at the organization as a whole. \nAfternoon discussion will center on the differences between sectors’ strategic plans and how an individual’s role and job plays a crucial part in making a functional and successful plan.  Individuals will learn how to be an effective participant in the planning process.  Register for this workshop and participate in hands-on activities with scenario planning and a sector-driven exercise. \n\nObjectives \n\nUnderstand different strategic planning approaches and techniques and their attendant advantages and disadvantages\nGain understanding of the importance of strategic plan implementation and follow-up through best practice applications\nLearn how strategic planning fits into other organizational functions\, such as budgeting and accountability\n\nFor more information and to REGISTER\, visit: NIU Civic Leadership Academy

SUMMARY:Creating a Donor Communications Plan - WSPN
DESCRIPTION:According to many\, the number one reason why donors stop supporting organizations is that they “no longer feel personally connected.” A lack of compelling communications is often the result of no plan or strategy to execute it and while donor attrition is a fact of life\, it doesn’t have to be accepted.\nIndustry data and conversations with nonprofit executives and staff show retention is one of the top problems development professionals face. We’re all too familiar with statistics like “for every 100 donors acquired\, nonprofits lose nearly the same number yearly.” But you’re not condemned to standing still forever.\nThis presentation will help attendees better understand how to advance donor relationships via a well-thought out donor communications plan based on a comprehensive foundation of data analytics and fundraising philosophy. \nFor more information and to REGISTER\, visit: WSPN
